This article provides an overview of how to create and maintain common areas within a Community in Rently Smart Home.
Step 1: Create the common area Asset.
To create a common area Asset, select a Community for which you would like to create the Asset. Once the Community is selected, click on "New Asset."
In the "New Asset" screen, select Asset Type as "Common Area" and fill out the other details.
Step 2: Assigning a lock to the common area
Click on "Add Hub/Device" and select the Oaks Lock (Access Panel) that you are installing in the common area.
Step 3: Creating a Sub-Community
To create a sub-community, click on the "Settings" icon on the Community card.
Click on the "Create Sub Community" button.
Step 4: Grouping Assets based on Sub-Community
Determine which assets need to be grouped together. Add each group to a sub-community. Remember the following:
- Any resident belonging to an Asset within a sub-community will have access to all common areas within the same sub-community.
- Any resident belonging to an Asset within a parent Community will not have access to the common areas in the sub-communities. On the contrary, any resident belonging to a sub-community will have access to all the common areas present under the parent communities.
For example, if you would like to divide the Community into two buildings, each with its Gym and Pool Area, you need to create two sub-communities. All units' common areas in Tower A will be assigned to Sub Community 1, and all units in Tower B will be assigned to Sub Community 2. Illustrations provided below.
Sub community for Tower A looks like this:
Sub community for Tower B looks like this:
The parent community has no assets assigned to itself. However has two sub-communities where all the assets are grouped by towers.
NOTE: Each Community is setup differently and each of your properties might have specific needs based on how they are run. Please feel free to contact product@rently.com in case you have any queries.
