If you received a low battery notification from your app, or you notice a low battery alert on the lock itself, you should look to replace your batteries as soon as possible.
For locks that have no key backup, if your lock batteries die before you have a chance to change them, you can use a 9-volt battery to quickly restart the lock to gain entry.
These instructions are applicable on Yale Assure Lock Push Button Deadbolt (YRD216), Yale Assure Lock Touchscreen Deadbolt (YRD226), Yale Assure Lock Key Free Touchscreen Deadbolt (YRD246), and the Yale Assure Lock SL Key Free Touchscreen Deadbolt (YRD256) lock.
You will need:
Four (4) non-rechargeable AA batteries
- Using a Philips screwdriver, remove the black battery cover on the interior side of the lock by rotating the screwdriver in a counterclockwise motion. Note: The screw is attached to the battery cover by a locking mechanism and will not fall free even after loosening.
- Remove the battery cover by sliding it up and away from the interior assembly.
- Remove old batteries. Note: Do not mix old batteries with new batteries, as this may damage the lock.
- Insert four (4) non-rechargeable AA batteries into the battery slots ensuring the polarity of the batteries match the +/- in the battery compartment. The lock will emit a tone that ascends then descends (YRD216) or it will emit four ascending beeps (YRD226, YRD246 and YRD256), and the indicator light will illuminate blue and red.
- On your phone, perform a hard refresh of the app.
- Replace the battery cover and use the Philips screwdriver in a clockwise motion to tighten the screw and secure the cover.
